One of the most high profile Florida bankruptcy cases of the year have revolved around the name Casey Anthony. Having been previously involved in her daughters murder trial, Anthony is no stranger to public scrutiny.
However, her personal bankruptcy case has sparked much attention and criticism in recent months. Now being sued in the midst of her debt relief case, a U.S. judge has stepped in to mediate the ongoing saga of personal lawsuits brought against Anthony.
The main lawsuit clogging up Anthony’s Chapter 7 filing discharge is a defamation lawsuit from the family’s prior babysitter. As part of her defense in the charges regarding her daughter, Anthony once accused Zenaida Gonzalez as a possible suspect in the case. Having been proven to be a lie, Gonzalez is suing Anthony for defamation of character.
Anthony’s lawyer is motioning to have pending lawsuits dismissed. The presiding judge has set a court date for November 5, 2013 to hear arguments on the move to dismiss the lawsuits. In the meantime, Anthony continues to work towards resolving her debt obligations while deflecting the suspecting eye of the public.
